Details of Oak-Framed Barn Construction
In addition to regular pole barns, we also offer and specialize in construction of Oak Built Barns.
Using rough-cut oak lumber that we purchase from a local saw mill, we offer different kind of barns & garages built with oak frame. Note: Only walls are built with oak material, the rest of the building is built with SPF lumber as any other of our structures.
The list of our Standard Oak-Framed Barn Features & Materials:
- True dimensional rough-cut oak 4"x6" posts and oak 2"x4" girts & braces
- Wall frame is built on top of 6x6 p.t. grade beams or 2x6 p.t. sill plates (depending on type of foundation used)
- Loft supporting LVL beams in garages are placed on top of 6x6 Oak posts
- 1-3/4" x11-7/8" LVL headers are used on barns & garages
- Wooden board & batten vertical siding
- Roof built using SPF 2x8 rafters, knee walls and collar ties
- Standard roofing material is 30 year asphalt shingles
- Different style of roofs, dormers and other options available
- Loft is built with SPF 2x10 floor joists 16" o.c. & 3/4" T&G plywood
- Standard foundation - concrete piers (size depends on location and barn size)
- Standard overhangs are 10" wide on gables (solid) and eaves (vented)
